CMS

What is CMS?

It is The Church Mission Society and is primarily a worldwide community of believers who passionately believe that Jesus is Lord of All and want the world to know Jesus. Every member of CMS seeks to be involved in the mission of Jesus and to encourage the church in its local and global mission.

What does CMS actually do?

CMS was founded in 1799 and has sent out about 10,000 mission partners to most continents of the world, including Europe. Working often in pioneer situations and with radical local Christian leaders CMS is committed to making disciples, resourcing leaders and transforming communities around the world.

How can I be involved?

  • Become a CMS member so that you can actively pursue a mission lifestyle
  • Pray for the work of CMS and for people in mission across the world by receiving CMS Prayer news and Mission Updates
  • Join an ‘Encounter Group’ which will give you an opportunity to join a group of people for about two weeks to visit some of the many projects CMS are involved in around the world.
  • Paul Thaxter is an active member of St James by the Park and the international mission director for CMS. Pray for his role as he seeks to respond to the challenges of global mission today.
