SCRATCH
SCRATCH launched in 1999 with the aim of relieving the effects of poverty, hardship and disadvantage for people living in and around Southampton. They seek to do this through various anti-poverty projects.
They are currently experiencing significant shortages of the following kitchen items. If you have any of the items listed below that you would be happy to donate, or if you would be able to buy some items (either new or clean second hand) we would be very happy to receive them on their behalf. Those of you who are savvy charity shop customers please keep SCRATCH in mind when you bargain hunt! Please leave any items in the Basics Bank trolley in the entrance to church over the next few weeks or drop them in to the Office during the week.

The largest area of work is the Dorcas Project which redistributes donated furniture and household items to people referred to the project as being in need. This could be as a result of homelessness, having suffered a family tragedy, been the victim of theft, fire or flood or simply unable to afford the cost of new furniture items. We are frequently asked to deliver a whole package of furniture (ranging from beds to settees) when families are moving into permanent accommodation with nothing apart from a few bags of clothes and personal possessions. In the year ending March 2018, we carried out 562 deliveries which helped 1110 adults and 842 children.
Our Christmas Complete Project provides parcels of gifts to families referred to us, so that their children will have parcels to open on Christmas Day - in 2017, 1855 youngsters received gifts through SCRATCH. Donations of toys, gifts and financial contributions are needed to ensure we can help as many families as possible.
