Funerals

It is a privilege to be involved in celebrating the life of a loved one and caring for those who are left behind.  The Christian hope of life beyond the grave, based on Jesus’ own death and resurrection, is a real comfort in the face of the separation that death brings.

If you are wanting to hold a funeral service at St James’ by the Park for a loved one who has recently died, it is best to make contact with us through the funeral directors. We will be able to help you plan a fitting service for your loved one – as well as offer you pastoral support in your grief.

Our clergy can also take services at Southampton Crematorium or Southampton Cemetery. Again, it is best to make contact via the funeral directors.

We hold an annual Memorial Service in November for all who have been recently bereaved or are still grieving. It is a quiet service, with opportunity to bring along a memento of your loved one(s), light a candle and say a prayer.

There is more information on the official Church of England funerals website.
