Baptisms
We love welcoming babies and families into our church community. We offer three slightly different sorts of welcome, to reflect the differing stages that parents are at on their own spiritual journey:
1. A thanksgiving for the birth of a child service, where we give thanks for the gift of new life, and ask for God’s blessing on the baby and their family.
2. A dedication service, where we give thanks for the gift of new life, and the parents affirm their own Christian faith, committing themselves to bringing up their child to know and love God. This is part of a regular Sunday service.
3. A baptism service (also called a christening), where we give thanks for the gift of new life, the parents affirm their own Christian faith, committing themselves to bringing up their child to know and love God. We then sprinkle water on the child as a sign of God’s promise of forgiveness to all who turn to him. This is part of a regular Sunday service.

It’s also our joy to baptise teenagers and adults, who have decided to start following Jesus for themselves, or who are wanting to renew their commitment to Jesus. These baptisms are often by full immersion.
