Older People

Older people have so much wisdom and experience to share - the Bible describes "the grey hair of experience" as "the splendour of the old" (Proverbs 20.29).

There are many joys that come with ageing, but there are challenges also - such as bodies and minds growing weaker and the loss of friends and community. As a church, we want to serve older people in our area.

Here's some of what we do:

  • Luncheon Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 12 noon until 1.30pm - anyone is welcome. If you would like a lift, please contact the church office in the first instance.

  • We have a daytime cell group primarily for older people, and also a midweek art group.

  • Our Sunday @3 service suits those who like classic hymns but struggle to get out to a morning service.

  • A team go into some of the local rest homes to visit patients and hold a short service for those who want to join in.

  • Some retired people also enjoy Sanctuary art and craft group on the 3rd Wednesday of each month - see more details here.
