Join a Team
One of the best ways to feel at home at St James' by the Park and meet others is to serve on a team. It takes an army of volunteers behind the scenes to run a church community and to help others find their way back to God - and we’d love for you to join us in our mission.
Wonderfully, those who serve on teams tend to find that they get as much out of serving as they put in – if not more!
At the moment, we have particular needs in the following areas:
occasional help
children's ministry - 17-19 August
We’re often on the look-out for people to help in the following areas:

Welcome & Hospitality
Be the friendly and welcoming face of our St James by the community, greeting people as they arrive, answering questions and serving refreshments

Children
We believe in providing fun spaces where local children and families can connect with God. Can you help us do that on Sundays or through the week - in church or in local schools?

Music & Worship
If you're musical and have a heart for worshipping our great God, our bands have the privilege of helping people encounter God through music and song - and giving them memorable truths that will help them continue worshipping in word nd deed through the week

Sound & Visuals
All of our services have both sound desk operators and computer operators (for projection and streaming). Previous experience is helpful but not essential - as long as you aren't fazed by technology and are willing to learn, we would love to hear from you! Training provided

Older People
From visiting care homes to giving lifts to those who can't come to events by themselves to cooking for our lunch club - there are many ways you can serve the older members of our church and community with us.

Youth
Teenage years are important years for discovering the world and questioning faith. We’re keen to help young people in Shirley understand who Jesus is and what role he wants to have in their lives. Spend time investing in and building relationships with our fantastic young people by joining the team.
Because our children, young people and older people are so precious, safeguarding checks and training are required for joining some teams.
Want to explore one of these teams further? Please fill out the form below and we will be in touch to arrange a shadowing session.
