A Rocha
A Rocha is an international Christian environmental and nature conservation movement which, inspired by God’s love, engages in scientific research, environmental education and community-based conservation projects across the world. Its name is Portuguese for 'the rock' as the first initiative was a field study centre in Portugal.

A Rocha's aim
If everyone waits for someone else to act, nothing will change. We need to be different, and to be different with others, as an important part of biblical Christian faith. A Rocha’s aim is to help you to do something practical as an individual, living in your local community, perhaps as a member of a local church, and as part of the global community.
A Rocha's values
A Rocha is identified by five core commitments and a practical outworking of each:
Christian - Underlying all is a biblical faith in the living God, who made the world, loves it and entrusts it to the care of human society.
Conservation - They carry out research for the conservation and restoration of the natural world and run environmental education programmes for people of all ages.
Community - Through a commitment to God, each other and the wider creation, good relationships are developed both within the A Rocha family and in our local communities.
Cross-cultural - insights and skills of people from diverse cultures, both locally and around the world, are drawn upon.
Cooperation – partnerships are developed with a wide variety of organizations and individuals who share the concerns for a sustainable world.
