Services in St James' by the Park
You’re welcome to join us at 10am on Sundays as we gather to worship God, hear from him, pray, and meet with each other. If you can’t join us in the building, you’re welcome to join us online instead - details are here.
Our current pattern of services is generally:
You're also welcome to join us for ...
Sunday @3
A monthly service, held on the 3rd Sunday of the month, at 3pm - an informal mix of traditional hymns played on the organ, interspersed with readings, prayers and a talk from the Bible. Followed by tea and cake sat around tables.
Elevate
A service run by our young people but open to everyone, Elevate runs on the 1st Sunday evening of the month during term-time. The time is spent worshipping God, looking at the Bible and responding to God’s word. Come at 6.45pm for drinks; the service starts at 7pm.
Wonder Walks
On the 4th Sunday of the month when there are no formal children's groups at St James', families are encouraged to join us on Southampton Common for a Wonder Walk - a gentle wander with stops along the way to wonder at the beauty we see around us, learning to worship God in the everyday. See the families page for more info.
Our current pattern of services is generally:
- First Sundays: Contemporary service with groups for children aged 0 to yr 8. Worship is led by a band and the service includes holy communion
- Second Sundays: Morning service with groups for children aged 0 to yr 8, with worship led by a band.
- Third Sundays: Explore Together - a service with lots of participation from everyone. A small band leads the worship, and all ages explore a Bible passage creatively together. Repeat services running at 9am and 10.30am to fit everyone in comfortably. See more here.
- Fourth Sundays: A more reflective service with worship led by a band and organ. There are no formal children's groups but the service does include holy communion. A separate activity takes place for families - see 'Wonder Walk' below.
