Day 13: Counsellor

Please light the candle at a convenient time and then take time to think about the name of Jesus for today which is Counsellor.
When we need advice, we all appreciate a friend or relative to help us think through the situation. The name Counsellor reassures us that Jesus is here offering to help. The prophet Isaiah (chapter 9 verse 6) clearly saw this when he said:
‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
We can rely on Jesus never to leave or forsake us.

To explore this more you may like to read in The Jesus Storybook Bible
“The Warrior Leader” (page 108-115) if you have a copy or watch a video of the story below
Prayer: ‘Loving God, we thank you that you can be trusted to give us the right advice when we pray to you. Amen.’

Activity: When you go shopping put an extra something in your shopping basket that you could give to a Food Bank
If you can, pray also for Wordsworth Primary School, who we are welcoming for Christingle services in our building today.

Here's Georgia's second advent reflection, going deeper into Jesus as our Everlasting Father.
