This knitted art installation has been made by many local residents – thank you to everyone who took part.
For 2000 years, the cross has been a sign of hope. On Good Friday, as Jesus was nailed to a cross and hung to die, it was a sign of hope that God himself is committed to entering the darkest and most unjust places of our world – and joining in the fight against them.
Jesus is not depicted on this cross, reminding us that the best historical sources say that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday – a further sign on hope that death is not the end, and that God can transform even the bleakest and most painful situations.
This Easter, we invite you to bring your honest pain or praise to God by posting your prayer on our Facebook or Instagram pages with #hopeforthehurting
If you live locally, you can also tie a ribbon on the physical gate as a prayer.
