Key updates:
Following a poll within the congregation, the Church Council has unanimously agreed to rename Shirley Parish Hall as St James' by the Park Community Centre. The largest room in the building will be known as the Spitfire Hall, to honour the building’s heritage.
Potential contractors have been invited to submit their bids to do the work.
We’ve put a proposal to Southampton City Council about a new footpath across Colebrook Green to link the church and St James' by the Park Community Centre.
The theme of our gift day in September was how Father God wants to Restore & Renew us - with many people committing to Go deeper with God, Grow closer to each other and/or Reach further with the love of Jesus.
Praise God:
Since our last update, a further £52,000 has been raised, bringing the total so far to £372,400.
We’re through to the second round for a potential large grant.
The Craft Market was a fantastic success with loads of good conversations, lots of money raised and wonderful creativity unleashed!
People have also done (and survived!) a sponsored walk and a cream tea as part of their £10 challenges. You can see some pictures and stories here!
Shirley Junior School are keen to run a fundraising activity with us.
Pray for:
Father God to guide us to the right contractor through the tender process.
The City Council to look favourably on our proposal for a new path.
Emily, Marie & Nichola as they prepare yet more detailed grant application documents.
Someone to lead on Communications for Restore & Renew.
Wendy S as she prepares for a Guides & Brownies Christmas Fayre in aid of R&R.
Continued good working relationship with Snug architects.
God to provide all we need for the coming months!
