Key updates:
The architects are putting together a detailed ‘tender document’ which will go out to potential contractors imminently, inviting them to bid for the building work.
Nick is putting together a document for the Charities Commission, seeking permission to use the £125,000 remainder of the St John’s sale proceeds.
We’re in the process of choosing a new name for the Parish Hall. Have your say here!
The Church Council have agreed we’ve got enough money pledged to begin the building work as soon as possible - hopefully in January.
Many local homes have received a leaflet about the changes to the Parish Hall - that has generated good conversations, positive feedback and some financial gifts, too!
Praise God:
So far, over £320,000 has been donated or pledged by members of the congregation.
The City Council have given the go-ahead to our planning application, and have given tacit approval to demolishing the ‘Warden’s Hut’ (also called an air raid shelter).
We’ve had some more fantastic fundraising events (eg paella sale; a clothes swap as part of the £10 challenge) - in total, our fundraising events have raised over £6,000.
Two companies that members of our congregation work for have given grants from their charity budget. Another local company has given a small grant too.
Pray for:
Emily & Marie as they prepare a grant application to the Laing Trust.
Someone to lead on Communications for Restore & Renew.
One or two extra people willing to help with grant applications.
Those doing the £10 challenge.
Other workplaces or local businesses to provide grants or support for the project.
The Buildings Team as they work with the architects to appoint a contractor.
God to provide all we need for the coming months!
