Lots of us have struggled with our wellbeing during the pandemic. Our church focus on mental wellbeing has never been needed more!

This term, we'll be delving into the Scriptures on Sundays and in our small groups to see how various Bible characters coped with adversities in their lives - to see how God was able to work even through their struggles, and to see what principles we might learn from them and put into practice to help our own wellbeing.

You can watch the talks below, and further down is a list of suggested resources. You're welcome to join us for the next talks in the series live online or onsite.
Through this term, we'll put some resources here that you might find helpful in thinking about wellbeing. We'd love to hear what you've found helpful - do add suggestions in the comments below!

Things we've found helpful:
  • The resources produced by Thrive, our mental wellbeing group
  • The Wellbeing Journey - a DVD-based course we'll be running this later this term
  • Slow down, Show up and Pray - a book that some of our small groups are working through this term
  • Down, not out: depression, anxiety and the difference Jesus makes - a short book by someone who has experienced this first hand
  • Supporting good mental health - a booklet of 13 daily reflections from the Church of England, with 'have a go' habits to try
  • UK Minority Ethnic mental health - a booklet highlighting patterns of mental health in people from UK minority ethnic backgrounds, and how we can help those people. From the Church of England. A linked toolkit is available here.
  • When darkness seems my closest friend - a longer book written by a Christian pastor who has long-term depression
  • Tumbling Sky: psalm devotions for weary souls
  • A new name: grace and healing for anorexia - written by someone who's battled with anorexia for years
  • Dealing with Depression: trusting God through the dark times - a short book written from a medical and biblical perspective
  • The Worry book - for those wanting to understand their anxiety and discover how God can help
  • God on mute - looking at the mystery of unanswered prayer.
  • The unanswered prayer course - video sessions available online, based on the God on mute book mentioned above.
